CBD Oil Dosing Chart

This post is not written to give advice on how much CBD you should take, or even whether or not you should take any - that needs to be discussed with your doctor.

This will just help you work out how much of a stronger/weaker oil you should take to get the same dose as the one you are taking.

Sometimes people say to me "well I take X drops of Y oil, Z times a day, how much of N should I take?" Confused yet? Well maths is one of my strong points, so hopefully I can help you work it out.

Unlike most supplements, where the milligrams (mg) on the packet is the milligrams per dose or drop/tablet/etc, the MG on a CBD bottle is the total CBD in the whole bottle and bottle sizes very, but usually come in 10ml or 30ml. So a 10ml bottle that says 100mg will contain the same strength oil as a 30ml bottle that says 300mg (the larger bottle is 3 times the size, but contains 3 times the CBD, so the CBD per ML is the same).

In the table below, I will show you how much CDB is in a drop (based on 1000 drops in a 30ml bottle) and a ml, of five common CBD strengths. This is based on 30ml bottles.

Most CBD oils recommend starting with 5 drops and working up to a maximum of 20 drops, twice per day, regardless of the strength, so that is why I have listed the total dose for 20 drops, twice a day. Of course, you should stop going up, once you’ve found the dose that works for you – there is no point taking 20 drops, if 5 works.

Except for the 1000mg (10xPURE-GOLD Super 1000), which is not an equal comparison because it contains CBDa, as you would expect, the stronger the oil, the cheaper the equivalent dose becomes, in the same way buying bigger packages usually works out cheaper.

If you’re taking a weaker oil, it may work out cheaper to switch to a stronger one and take less. For example, I was taking 15 drops (7.5mg) of 500mg Full spectrum CBD oil twice a day (15mg per day). I switched to 5 drops of 1500mg Full spectrum CBD oil twice a day. I’m still taking 7.5mg twice a day, 15mg total per day, but it cost $1 a day instead of $1.80, plus it’s quicker to take and I have to re-order less often.
